Douglas deputy DA wins appointment

Friday, June 05, 2009 |
Gov. Ted Kulongoski has appointed Frances Burge to serve on the Douglas County Circuit Court bench to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge William Lasswell.
She has served as a deputy district attorney in Douglas County since 1999 and has worked as a prosecutor with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team and the Douglas County Drug Court.
Burge received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of California at Davis and her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Willamette University in Salem, a press release said. Burge also is active in the Chamber of Commerce and with Oregon 150.
“I am also pleased to appoint the first Hispanic judge to the Douglas County Circuit Court bench,” the governor said. “I believe her service on the bench will be an asset to the citizens of Douglas County and the state of Oregon.”
