Thursday, June 04, 2009 |
Officers arrested Leroy Capote, 18, of Coos Bay on Wednesday on charges of three counts of unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and first-degree theft of a handgun.
Officers were investigating a report that a handgun was taken from a motor vehicle on Saturday that was parked in the 2300 block of Everett Street in North Bend. Sgt. Curt Bennett said officers found Capote walking near the intersection of 10th Street and Southwest Boulevard in Coos Bay when they arrested him. The firearm was recovered and returned to its owner upon completion of the investigation.
Capote was taken to the Coos County jail, where he was released on his own recognizance Wednesday.
The South Coast Interagency Narcotics Team and Coos Bay Police Department assisted with the arrest.
