My favorite way to make chicken

Beer can chicken may be my favorite way to make chicken at home, but unlike the bird above, I cannot do mine on the grill.
You see, I have one of those Coleman Roadtrip grills that can’t do anything much taller than a ear of corn, much less a chicken sitting on a beer can.
But, in the oven it makes the chicken so moist.
And while the balancing bird in the photo on the front seems to be doing just fine, they do make beer can chicken holders. It’s a little wire rack with spot for a beer can in the middle.
You put a half can of beer in the holder, place the whole chicken over the top and put it in the oven for an hour and a half at 375 degrees, or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 170 degrees.
We’ve gone to experimenting with our beer can chicken recipes, putting different rubs on the chicken, and adding garlic and other spices to the beer so it steams up into the chicken while it’s cooking. |
