Downtown Farmer's Market begins

May 27

The Downtown Farmer’s Market will run every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. through October Call Coos Bay Visitor Center at 269-0215 for general information. Vendors should call the Coos Bay Downtown Association at 266-9706 visit www.coosbaydowntown.org  for more information.

OCCI holds weekly          bake sale for charity

May 28-29

The Oregon Coast Culinary Institute will be holding a bake sale. The proceeds go to Share Our Strength to help feed hungry children in Coos Bay and North Bend.

The bake sale is on Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the front lobby at OCCI on the Southwestern Oregon Community College campus.

Last week’s sale included items including breads, cakes and even calzones, according to Executive Director Shawn Hanlin. He said the project has already raised more than $600 for the charity.

Second annual East   meets West at OCCI

Friday, May 29

Oregon Coast Culinary Institute students event which includes a variety of regional and international dishes from 5 to 8 p.m.

Cost is $20 per person and $10 for children.

Empire Clamboree

June 27

Hours: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Lots of live music, vendors and food. The Oregon Coast Culinary Institute will make numerous clam dishes. There will also be cultural demonstrations and canoe races by the Confederated Tribes as well as kids events by South Slough National Reserve and a self-guided historic tour.

The U.S. Coast Guard will perform a landing for inspection and a water rescue demonstration at the Hollering Place.

The Betty Kay will offer boat rides and the Clamboree Cookbook will be for sale.  Family friendly pricing plus many free events.
