Siuslaw names top students for 2009

The Siuslaw High School graduation is scheduled at 8 p.m. Friday, May 29, in the main gymnasium, Siuslaw High School, 2975 Oak St., Florence.
Valedictorians
Jacqueline Fitch is the daughter of Brian and Loreen Fitch. She plans to attend Northwest Nazarene University and study biology or history.
Her extra-curricular activities at SHS include symphonic band, jazz band, pep band, Campus Bible Club, Key Club, National Honor Society and in her spare time she gave piano lessons.
Samuel Pearson is the son of Paul and Rachel Pearson. Samuel plans to attend Corbin College in Salem to obtain a degree in history.
During his four years at Siuslaw High School, Sam has been an active member of pep band, symphonic band, jazz band, honor band, cross country, track and field, National Honor Society, Key Club treasurer, Campus Bible Club, Youth Group Leadership and band council.
Amanda Pilcher is the daughter of RJ and Susie Pilcher. Her plans in the fall, are to attend the University of Portland and major in history with a minor in music and political science.
Amanda has been an active member of symphonic band, pep band, band council, National Honor Society and a member of the SHS bowling team.
Jacob Mitchell is the son of James and Deena Mitchell. Jacob’s post-high school plans are to get a bachelor’s degree in biology or a similar life science field. Following his first year of college, he plans on serving a mission for his church.
Jacob has been active in Boys Scouts of America, varsity football, varsity basketball, varsity track, Key Club, Prom Committee, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, student government and church youth group.
Salutatorian
Daniel Scott is the son of Jimmy and Cindy Scott. Daniel plans to attend the University of Oregon to study political science, economics and pre-law. After completion of education at UO, he plans to attend law school out of state.
While a student at Siuslaw High School, Daniel has been an active member of cross country, track and field and National Honor Society.
