Flags honor country, tireless volunteer

Monday, May 25, 2009 |
Way to go city of Coos Bay! The American flags flying along the boardwalk are a joy to behold. No matter where you go in the world everyone knows that flag. It is wonderful that it will be flying on three very special occasions for our country: Memorial Day to honor our fallen heroes, Flag Day to honor our country’s emblem and 4th of July to honor our country’s birthday.
Thank you Jim Hossley, director of public works. Not only will the flags honor those special events, but they also will be paying tribute to Aleta Pittman who worked tirelessly to keep the annual Memorial Day parade going for the past 20 years. Thank you Coos Bay City Hall for remembering our veterans who fought for the freedom to celebrate our holidays.
