Bandon finished a strong second half of the Sunset Conference baseball season with a 13-9 win over visiting Gold Beach on Tuesday.
The Tigers, who started 0-4 in league play, won eight of their final 10 games to tie Myrtle Point for second at 8-6.
Those two teams play at Myrtle Point on Thursday with a spot in the state playoffs on the line. The winner will be in the postseason and also get a shot at runner-up Cascade Christian for the No. 2 seed.
In Tuesday’s win, the Tigers overcame a 5-2 deficit by scoring five runs in the fifth inning and six more in the sixth on a combination of walks, extra-base hits and Gold Beach errors.
“It was a good combination for us,” said Bandon coach Gary Chrismon.
Jimmy Mack finished 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Timmy Young also was 2-for-3 and drove in two runs. Austin Robinett had a two-run double and an RBI groundout.
Gold Beach also had a solid hitting day. Todd Martin was 3-for-3 and scored twice, while Brodey Carpenter was 2-for-3 and had two runs. Travis Smith had three hits and five RBIs and Garrett Hoffman had two hits and drove in two runs.
Bandon and Myrtle Point split their two games during the season, but the Bobcats will host Thursday’s game because they were the only team to beat league-champion Rogue River.
Still, Chrismon is excited that his young team has a chance.
“I’m really happy for our guys,” he said.

Panthers win finale
Gold Beach capped its championship season in the Sunset Conference with a no-hitter by Whitney Donaca in a 16-0, five-inning win over host Bandon on Tuesday.
The Panthers finished 13-1 in league play and will host a first-round game in the Class 3A playoffs next Tuesday.
Katie Walling went 3-for-4 for the Panthers, including a triple, and Katherine Zuber also had a triple.
Glide tops Devils
Glide freshman McKenzie Shrum pitched a two-hitter and fellow freshman Alexa Skinner had three of Glide’s four hits on offense as the Wildcats blanked Coquille 10-0 to wrap up second place in the Sunset Conference.
Shae Gilbreath had a triple for Glide. Skinner, who was injured a few games ago, could only bunt, but she beat out three bunts for singles. The Wildcats also took advantage of seven walks and four critical errors.
Bailey Richardson and Nikki Hall had Coquille’s hits.
The Red Devils, who finished 2-12, return eight starters next season.
“I expect us to make the playoffs next year and start making noise in the next couple of years,” Coquille coach Randy Miles said.
Challengers win
Cascade Christian beat host Rogue River 8-6 to take third place.
With the conference getting four playoff spots in softball, both squads are in the Class 3A playoffs.
The teams meet again Thursday in Medford in a seeding game, with the winner taking on Glide Friday for a chance to move up to the No. 2 seed.
