Firefighters douse flames, save house

Firefighters extinguished a blaze Monday that damaged a family's home on Airport Ridge Road north of North Bend.
The North Bay Fire Rural Fire Protection District received the house fire report at 7:18 p.m. and went to 94116 Airport Ridge Road.
About 17 firefighters went to the scene, along with two fire engines and two water tenders. When they arrived, they found flames burning in a basement room of the single-story home, a press release said. Smoke was seeping from the front door. The residents were able to contain the fire with extinguishers. Fans were used to remove smoke and the family was able to return the same evening.
The cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature, the press release said.
