Black & White Gala on Saturday

Wednesday, May 13, 2009 |
The Bay Area Sunrise Rotary club will host its third-annual Black & White Benefit Gala 6 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Oregon Coast Culinary Institute on the Southwestern Oregon Community College campus.
The gala is designed to raise funds for the Share Bear Snack Pack program, which feeds 250 children in Coos and Western Douglas counties.
Tickets cost $60 each, or $120 for a couple, and are available by calling rotary member Lynda Kristoffersen, at (541) 756-4570 or Jen Shilling at 888-7188.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will be donated to the snack pack program and the club will apply for a match-grant from Rotary International — which could provide additional funding.
The Share Bear Snack Pack program is part of Oregon Coast Community Action’s food programs, and is a childhood hunger relief effort focused on providing snacks to children who may have little or no access to food on school breaks or weekends.
