Judge Paula Bechtold continued a plea change hearing today to May 14 for Wendi Boutiette, the former Coquille High School track coach accused of having sex with one of her athletes.
Boutiette’s attorney, David Terry of Roseburg, said he provided the Douglas County District Attorney the results of his office’s investigation earlier this week. He requested the extension in coordination with the DA’s office so prosecutors could review his findings.
Douglas County prosecutors are handling the case after Coos County District Attorney R. Paul Frasier recused his office over conflict-of-interest concerns.
Coquille police, who arrested Boutiette on Feb. 14, said the case stems from an incident in 2006 involving a teenage boy who was on the Coquille High School track team.
Boutiette’s attorney has denied his client ever had physical contact with the former athlete.
