Valiant women honored at celebration

Church Women United is honoring two community volunteers as “valiant women” at its May Friendship Day celebration on Friday.
The theme for this year’s event, “Building on Our Stories,” is an invitation to a journey through memories, a press release said. As is the tradition on May Friendship Day, churches and the organization will honor Jeanette Stonebraker and Rosemary McLean.
The program will focus on all who came before — the leaders, guides and mentors that showed the way to all other women.
The event begins at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 2250 16th St., in North Bend, with lunch following.
