Friday, April 10, 2009 |
FLORENCE (AP) - Another dead whale has washed up on the beach at the Oregon coast, only a few miles from where a whale was buried last month.
The juvenile gray whale that washed up near Florence appeared emaciated. State parks officials said there was no sign the gray whale got entangled in nets or that it had any significant sores or wounds that might indicate disease or injury.
A fin whale washed up dead in Florence last month. Samples taken from that whale to determine why it died still are being analyzed. The state had that whale buried at the beach and plans to also bury the body of the latest whale.
