Safe record earns ILWU local 12 several awards

The Pacific Maritime Association handed out its Oregon Area Safety Awards this month in Portland. The banquet is held annually to honor safety achievements by member companies and International Longshore and Warehouse Union Locals.
Coos Bay-based Local 12 of the International Longshore and Warehouse Union took first place in Longshore “C” group.
For the lowest lost time injury rate awards in group C, first place went again to Local 12 Coos Bay, followed by Astoria. The local longshore union also won an award for its zero injury rate.
