Crime scene photographs, diagrams, a body map and the testimony of six witnesses led a Coos County Grand Jury to return an indictment charging an 18-year-old Bunker Hill man with murder.
On Friday, the Coos County District Attorney called the grand jury for a special hearing on the case, in which Henry L. Cozad is believed to have beaten Linda S. Foley to death with his bare hands. The hearing ran about three and a half hours.
“For a homicide case this was nothing out of the ordinary,” said District Attorney R. Paul Frasier.
He noted that while lesser felony cases last 30 to 45 minutes, homicide cases just take more time.
Coos County Sheriff’s Office deputies preliminarily charged Cozad with murder March 12, after his father’s girlfriend, Linda S. Foley, was found dead inside a Bunker Hill home the three shared. A Coos County Circuit Court judge arraigned Cozad on Monday.
During Friday’s hearing witnesses included:
Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy Del Dahlen, the first law enforcement office on the scene.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Dave Hermann, the second officer on scene who conducted much of the investigation and had contact with Cozad.
Sheriff’s Sgt. Dan Looney, the lead investigator.
Jim Jones, a neighbor who discovered the body and called police.
Terry Hannevold, an acquaintance of the family, who went to the scene.
Coos County Medical Examiner Kris Karcher who testified about the crime scene and Foley’s autopsy
