Oregon Coast Community Action's Energy Services Division staff is nearing the end of the current waiting list of families needing assistance with utility payments or energy bills, and funds are still available for families in need in our community. Energy Services staff are encouraging families struggling to make ends meet and paying high utility bills to contact Community Action and ask to be placed on the waiting list. Anyone who has received a shut off notice should contact Community Action at 888-1574 for immediate assistance.

As of the end of February, Oregon Coast Community Action had helped 5,024 individuals with energy assistance payments. Funding is still available for families in Coos and Curry counties.

Many working families may qualify for energy assistance funds if their income falls below the eligibility standards required by the state. For example, a family of four with an income of $3,241 or less per month qualifies for assistance paying for utility bills, propane or energy needed to heat a home. Also, families with income that do not meet the current eligibility standards but are struggling with high housing and heating costs could qualify for assistance.

Customers signed up on the waiting list that have not yet been contacted and should have received energy services this year are encouraged to contact Community Action at 888-1574 to check on the status. Due to the significant increase in customers seeking energy assistance in January and February, Community Action's phone systems were overloaded. Please be patient with the staff as they work to provide assistance to all eligible families in our community.

To request an appointment please call 888-7056.
