Oh yes, I am most familiar with the insanity defense and how it can result in both a finding of not guilty as well as incarcerating the insane person. Remember what happened to the young man who tried to kill Reagan. He's still locked up. The same legal doctrine if used by our ineffective DA would have resulted in the earlier attack leading to incarceration.
