Obama's team is scandal-ridden

Here’s a list of President Obama’s bad choices or “coincidences” listed in one place, as I see it.

• President Obama appointed Nancy Killefer chief performance officer, but she withdrew her candidacy due to her payroll tax “problems.”

• Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton voted for a war that she opposed, and her husband has been paid millions of dollars from foreign countries. Isn’t this what is known as “conflict of interest?”

• Thomas Daschle, was up for secretary for Health and Humans Services, before it came out that he owed $146,000 in back taxes.

• Timothy Geithner was appointed as treasury secretary, is getting a pass by claiming not to have known that he had to pay taxes on gross income. Is this really the person that can run the Treasury Department to bail us out of all the economic problems that we’re in?

• For assistant to the president for Energy and Climate Change, Obama has picked Carol Browner, a member of the Socialist International, not that there’s anything wrong with Socialism, or is there?

• John O. Brennan, former head of The Analysis Corp. that was cited for breaching sensitive files in the State Department’s passport office, has been appointed deputy national security adviser for Homeland Security in the Obama Administration. This is just the sort of “inside-the-Beltway” influence peddling that Obama was elected to end.

• Eric Holder, attorney general, was involved with President Clinton’s last-minute pardon of fugitive and Democratic contributor Marc Rich.

• The Deputy Attorney General is David Ogden, who sued on behalf of Playboy, to keep porn in public places by open and free Internet access in public libraries and schools.

One thing is for sure, President Obama has not cleaned up D.C. the way that he vowed to. We have more scandals during the transition than most presidencies have in one term. It might be wise for Obama to hire someone who actually paid their taxes, was not a lobbyist and in fact, who has never been to Washington.

Can you say hypocrite? It will be interesting to see how long the millions of people who voted for Obama, and the media who did not bother to hold him to any accountability, will continue maintaining an infatuation for their ideal of Obama rather than the reality of who he is and will become. Already it seems he is a President who believes that as President he can bend the rules when it comes to his Presidential decisions. Sound familiar? Well, it should. His decision to appoint a lobbyist as one of the most powerful people in Washington is no change at all. Frankly, it saddens me for America and the people who put their trust in him. Apparently, the "Yes We Can" is more of "Yes I Can" because I am the President. Where is the ethics of leadership he promised the American people?

I then point to the right-sided leaders and their very obvious flaws.

I am then attacked as untruthful and a plagarist. The plagarsim claim was clearly debunked immediately, but the untruthful claim continues to be tossed out there with zero proof. Back up your claims if really expect anyone to believe your argument. Unless of course you are TRYING to look like a knee-jerk reactionary who is simply unable to write with intelligence.

What is worse, is no one can actually muster a decent conversation about banks/finance, correction to earmarks or job growth, not a single actual attempt at debating these issues. Why? Aren't these things more important to America and our county than faulty attacks?

Remember when the economic crisis hit and the giant investment banking firm of Bear Sterns filed for bankruptcy? The company asked for financial assistance from the government but Congress decided (wisely) that private businesses make their own decisions and should be held accountable for them. Consequently, Bear Sterns went out of business.
Then several months later AIG, the huge insurance company, announced it too was in financial difficulty. Congress did a 180 turn in their philosophy and provided bail out money for AIG. Why the change of heart? Was it out of concern for the tens of thousands of citizens who might loose money? Or perhaps Congress was suddenly concerned for the economy as a whole. Well, it was nothing that complicated.

Freedom is not the issue. Nor is anyone attempting to take freedom from the wealthy?? Where did you get that, and why in the world do you think that is the issue???

Jobs are the issue.

I love the attack of the "MSM." It is attacking the messenger, as is always the last ditch effort in desperation to get your wayward point across.

The internet is great thing, if for nothing else, for the ability to diversify your news resources. Failure to use or recognize this, is purely your choice. Disappointment with your impression of MSM says nothing specific about a particular news agency or particular story told. The remedy, if you wish, is to develop an all-new, website/cable news with no bias. Good luck sir.

TRUTH SQUAD wrote on Mar 14, 2009 6:21 PM:

Still a far cry from plagarism.

I did not make myself as clear as I could in reference to the rushing in of legislation.

Instead I quickly drew comparison to last president's flaws with a rush to remedy. That wasn't a crystal clear analogy to see. But I absolutely do agree with too much too soon, simply because each bill is loaded with pork and certainly at risk for not being well developed due to it's expediting.

You have a fault though too. The nationalism/bank remarks are questions I pose. They are not my "ideals." Notice the "?" in my previous comments.

It could though run out the crooks, but it is anti-capitalistic and anti-business. I am just wondering aloud if there is some degree of merit to it, perhaps not. I just have yet to hear anyone, anywhere offer much that sounds plausible to really get our economy going again and to prevent the banks from doing it again.

Yes, there is a rushing in of agenda. As did Bush to his war on civil rights. Both have spent money with no gold standard. This means we CAN spend all we want with few risks. If inflation rises we lose. If not, we get the new roads, schools, and people to work for free. The absurd earmarks are certainly a problem, and is a serious detriment.

What does Cuba and Russia have to do with anything? Each party would love to be a majority forever. Duh.

Should we nationalize the banks and then privatize in about 5 years time to the highest, qualified bidder? It's the SnL all over again. Would a capitalism model work again once we have a decent GNP? It would be a good clearing house for the crooks running the banks. It's also what the IMF recommends.

Clear and present danger wrote on Mar 11, 2009 7:49 PM:

George Soros strongly recommended the Obama administration follow the Swedish model by nationalizing troubled U.S. banks as quickly as possible so toxic assets in mortgage-backed securities and other troubled bonds could be absorbed by the taxpayer, positioning the banks to begin aggressive lending once again, only now with clean balance sheets and new government bureaucrat managers.

Appearing to be an insider, Soros suggested to CNBC that the Obama administration plans to "save up" $100 billion from the TARP, with a plan to "leverage these funds up" by utilizing Federal Reserve assets to reach a total of a new $1 trillion to rescue banks, without going to Congress with a request for a new $1 trillion in TARP funds.

Soros suggested this new $1 trillion "will help relieve the situation," but he doubted even this additional $1 trillion would be "enough to turn the situation around."

"In the end, we will have to nationalize the banks, if we want the banks to start lending again," Soros finally admitted to CNBC toward the end of his interview.

What Obama has been doing in just two months has me frightened.
He seems bent on enacting every bad Democrat Party idea and proceeding at a headlong pace to get them enacted before a public backlash can develop. Stimulus packages which are payoffs to his cronies.
He talks down the economy.
He spreads lies and deceit.
He initiates programs intended to grow into Leftist monsters which will steal away our freedom in ten or so years. And all this without any debate or without the electorate knowing what booby traps await us.
One of two things are likely to happen: either the Democrat Party will be destroyed from this or America will.
An America which tries to become a Social Democratic State like the European Union will be poor, backward, demoralized and militarily weak.
There is no certainty that America will even hang together.

Let me address this one at a time.
1) It is just and fair to balance the wealth. Anyone who disagrees is wealthy and/or lacking in compassion.

2)Victimology is being played by the wealthy as well, see above #1.

3) You are not accurate. There are tax cuts for Americans, just as campaigned. See: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/congress_stimulus

4) You say Obama has "invoked that he won the election to dissenting Republicans"... ? Where did you see this? We all saw the polls well before election day, up by double digits. The young and independent saw a better candidate. It was a massive increase in Dem registration which proved the election decisive.

It seems you are invoking slander.

Tom wrote on Mar 6, 2009 6:49 AM:

A community organizer by trade, Obama’s call to historical greatness revolves around redistribution of wealth from the rich to those with less opportunity drives his program because redistribution is “just” and “fair”.

The Obama program is all about class warfare and the same “victimology” practiced in the inner city of Chicago by Jeremiah Wright and other Obama associates.

Obama could have unified the country by producing a bipartisan bill which included some elements of Republican ideas (tax cuts for Americans and businesses) as well as “New Deal” type work programs that Democrats support.

In my opinion, Obama never considered a bipartisan approach to the stimulus bill. There is an arrogant “call to greatness” attitude in his domestic policy.

He has repeatedly invoked that he “won” the election to dissenting Republicans.

And socialist/fascist? The truth is our gov't has always been a blend of socialized and capitalistic goals. The post office is socialized. Social Security, is guess what? A form of socialism. As is unemployment, and our Timber Revenues we all want back, myself included. It makes up where capitalism fails or can't work.

If we can employ more Americans with gov't infusion or if more Americans can have adequate health care, we all win.

The only cost is the money. With the absence of the gold standard, we can make all we want with the only risk being global $ devalue or inflation. Both are well check right now.

Every administration pushes some envelope. After last envelope pushing (torture, constitutional amendments) I welcome an attempt to balance helping others and capitalism.

If you think the rich people are going to float this huge spending spree you are sadly mistakin. China and Japan have been buying our dedt they are growing tired of us.Where in the world do you think this money will come from the tooth ferry? We can't afford to print money we don't have. We as citizens must straighten ourselfs out government is not the answer.Rep. or Dem. they got us in this. With over spending and bad choices. The idea that one person in Washington DC will save us is a terrible joke And if you believe that you need to be hearded back to the sheep barn.He has changed nothing but the ooooooooo on the national dedt.

It’s all about the corporate money for both sides, the Reps and Dems. Time to find a third choice. One that isn’t controlled by the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) and other influences.

3 Republican Principles:
1) free enterprise and encouraging individual initiative have brought this nation opportunity, economic growth and prosperity: A totally free market creates slavery, it is most profitable.
2) government must practice fiscal responsibility and allow individuals to keep more of the money they earn. Let the rich make bigger and bigger piles of money wile everyone else suffers.
3) the proper role of government is to provide for the people only those critical functions that cannot be performed by individuals or private organizations, and that the best government is that which governs least. No government means anarchy, of course the rich will support a military to keep the poor enslaved.

I guess for the super rick propaganda perpatrators, affairs are worse that brainwashing and torture.

Take care of yourself and your family, when it comes down to it, our goverment is too busy fixing their own screw ups to even care about the people.

It's inevitable. But McLame would have been much worse. He would have continued taxing the middle class into the ground, and lining his fat pockets with oil money while the richy riches continued to not pay their fair share of taxes. The stupid senseless war would have continued and more of our sons and daughters would have died for nothing. Obama, I support you proudly!

Under qualified and given the position because of his race, which is pretty much correct. No Caucasian candidate would have ever been elected with his lack of experience.

Capitalism was majical, producing everything we desired from the mid 1980s to now. So the government collapsed our way of life, quite profitably for them. They appear as rescuers of our broken society, when in reality they have been screwing us hard for about 40years. A system that was designed to fail. Very informative video. According to Wolf, Conservatives believe gov't intervention was the culprit, Liberals favor regulation of banks and corps, they blame the lack of regulation as the cause of economic collapse occuring today.
Wake up, america!

Rick Wolf Professor of Economics, UMASS Amherst
Gives a great summation of economics in the US since 1820s. Speaks of the disparity of workers pay to consumerism, to profit increase due to capitalism. People have awoken to a new economic reality, that wages have frozen since the 1970s, consumption was stagnant as money wasn't available, so workers/housesholds began to work more, households began to fall apart, US people consume more drugs than any other country, people began charging with money that they didn't have. The execs saw this shift in consumption and charging for "stuff" that we "had" to own. So they started lending the working class money, so we work for them, they lend us money with interest. We started owning collateral, we could put loans on that collateral, so the lending bonanza was blowing out of control. Incomes did not increase, but lending went out the roof.

And the Republicans are the "moral" party?

We suffered through 8 years of Republican mistakes, everybody should relax a little and see if President Obama can get things going in the right direction. I doubt that any of you can argue President Obama doesn't represent a big step up in intelligence over the previous administration.

This is the society the American people have chosen; a place where terrorists are treated with humanity and unwanted babies are thrown out with the trash. And it won't be improving any time soon, now that liberals are making the rules the rest of us are required to live by.

John Adams put it well when he said: "We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge or gallantry would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other."
