Bandon’s boys basketball team used clutch free-throw shooting to edge visiting Reedsport 57-53 in an overtime thriller on Tuesday.
The Tigers made nine of 10 free throws in the extra session to stop a two-game Sunset Conference losing streak.
The Braves took a one-point lead with 12 seconds to go in regulation, but Bandon’s Max DeVillers drew a foul while putting up a last-ditch shot and hit one free throw to force overtime.
After the Tigers gained a small lead, Reedsport began fouling to preserve time on the clock. That plan soon backfired with Bandon’s stellar free throw shooting to close out the game.
Connor Jackson and DeVillers ended up with 19 points each and 10 and 12 rebounds, respectively. Derrick Burman added 14 points.
Leading the Braves were Cody Savey with 24 points and Ismael Osario with 11 points.
Bandon, Reedsport, Gold Beach and Glide all are tied for third place early in the league season at 2-2.
Red Devils win
Coquille’s boys basketball team out-scored visiting Myrtle Point in every quarter except the fourth en route to a 48-36 Sunset Conference win Tuesday night.
Joe Harris had 12 points and Daniel Muntifering added 10 for the Red Devils, who got their first Sunset Conference victory by beating their rivals.

Danny Barnum led the Vikings with 12 points and six rebounds while Jacob Mitchell had eight points and three assists.
Bruins win at home
Brookings-Harbor held off a second-half rally by Sutherlin, beating the visiting Bulldogs 66-58 on Tuesday.

Powers gets first win
Powers got its first win in Skyline League play on Tuesday, beating host Camas Valley 48-42.
The Cruisers overcame a slow start — a one-point first quarter — with strong offense the rest of the way.
“We played about 21⁄2 pretty decent quarters,” said Powers coach Matt Shorb. “And we’re getting better every game.”
Kiefer Allen had 16 points to lead the Cruisers and Cameron Perreault added 13.
Nick Andreas had 12 points for the Hornets.

Myrtle Point survived a scare from Coquille to keep its Sunset Conference record perfect, outscoring the host Red Devils 13-2 in the final quarter for a 44-33 victory.

The teams were tied at eight after the first quarter, but Bandon held Reedsport to just six points over the next two, building a 32-14 lead.
“Defensively, we were strong in those two quarters and that helped us,” said Bandon coach Ken Nice.

Trojans top Vikings
Douglas rallied back for a 47-33 win on the road against Siuslaw on Tuesday.
The Vikings opened with a 17-8 lead in the first quarter, but it quickly diminished. At the half, Douglas led 24-23.
“Turnovers,” said Siuslaw coach Aaron McNeil, describing his team’s biggest problem. “Our nemesis is struggling to handle defensive pressure.”

Rachel Erickson had a game high 14 points while teammates Jana Shigley, Stacia Blankenship and Emily James each had six points.
For the Vikings, Stacy Voogd and Alexis Reavis each had eight points.
