North Bend’s boys bowling team had another strong tournament over the weekend, finishing third at Southtown Lanes in Eugene.
The Bulldogs were the top qualifiers, but lost in the semifinals of the tournament.
North Bend beat North Eugene 340-241 in the two-game third-place match. Willamette beat Springfield 349-293 for the title.
“I really feel good about this tournament,” said North Bend coach Ron Chambers. “We have been in the lead in every tournament. We have medaled in every tournament. And this is the first tournament we didn’t give it away. It took a really hot team to knock us to the third-place bracket.”
The tournament followed a similar event at North Bend Lanes, when the Bulldogs led Willamette, Marshfield and Springfield through qualifying, but lost to Springfield in the semifinals. Willamette beat Marshfield in the other semifinal, but fell to Springfield in the championship match. North Bend beat Marshfield in the third-place contest.
