LAKE OSWEGO (AP) — Oregon Republicans named former State Representative Bob Tiernan as their chairman party at a convention in Lake Oswego.

Tiernan earned his reputation for tough attacks on organized labor and the Democratic establishment.

He easily defeated former Oregon House Speaker Lynn Snodgrass Saturday by a 75-39 vote of the state Republican Central Committee.
