CENTRAL POINT (AP) — The Oregon State Police say they finally have enough troopers to begin patrolling the roads 24 hours, seven days a week, in part of the state.

Gov. Ted Kulongoski authorized a recruiting drive for the 2007-09 biennium that the agency says has increased staffing enough to expand patrols based at its Central Point office in the southern part of the state.

It is the first state police command office to get troopers back on the roads around the clock, even though it will be a minimum staffing levels.

The recruiting drive has already added more than 120 troopers to the agency's ranks

CITIZEN is an idiot who wants convoluted reason to stretch a single bad officer into the conclusion that all OSP officers are bad. This makes CITIZEN either a moron or troublemaker.

CITIZEN then connects the need for more officers to an inane belief that two wrongs make a right. We need more officers at all levels.

And, of course, we need that single power hungry loser taken out of the ranks at OSP, and I'm sure they are working on it. But it is hard when most complaints only find their way onto the internet and never reach the managers at OSP who need times dates and places in order to isolate this bad officer who must surely be mentally related to CITIZEN.

Amazing what fiscal responsiblity can accomplish. The voter scare tactics they employ annually to try and get more money sickens me. The last measures I voted down led me to believe they wouldn't have enough money to do things like this :-)

I take it you both have received a ticket for speeding and you now have a grudge. I would like to see more tickets given around our schools. Ex: Bunker hill.

Colleges will be cut 3-5% and you are going to increase OSP?

Who needs these jerks on the road? They treat decent citizens as criminals. How about give the money to the counties so we can rehire those who were laid off from our sheriff's dept? This way our roads are protected by good people!

Maybe after we get enough new officers to cover the areas, we can start to weed out some of those that have had their job go to their head. After reading the comments from some of the most recient stories, I am not the only one who has been on the receiving end of out of control officers.
