Police arrested a Coquille man Monday on drug-related charges.

According to the Coquille police log, at about 2:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of suspicious conditions at 1205 N. Dean St. They arrested Robert Simpson, 44, on charges of possession of methamphetamine, tampering with evidence and a probation violation. They also arrested Jerry Collier, 49, of Coquille, on charges of interfering and disorderly conduct.

Police took both men to Coos County jail. Simpson was being held this morning without bail, while Collier was released on his own recognizance.

Meth is destroying Coos County, but, thanks to lack of any budget, the police can't even do what is needed. Meth is ruining this community, and the community needs to unite and commit to stopping it.

they will get off with a good lawyer. Suspicious conditions, cmon. If a cop came to yyur house and said he had the right to search because of suspicious conditions, cmon. No way

Meth addiction does not discriminate.it will take anyone, anytime, anywhere.same with any kind of substance that one can become addicted to.Seniors are subjected to over medicating on a daily basis, children are medicated for ADD without properly being diagnosed, need I go on.I have a feeling that with the economy the way it is,more people are going to turn to illegal activity to not only support their addictions they will say its to support their families.

Jail Time wrote on Jan 6, 2009 3:53 PM:

A couple of over-40's busted for meth. This is pathetic. At their age, there is simply no excuse. If these old dudes are found guilty (and it sound like a good bet they will be), then max time in jail is appropriate because these birds REALLY should have known better. Since they are clueless, lots of time in jail will help the message to sink in. Say hi to Bubba, dudes.
