Main's first meeting as commissioner Wednesday
Tuesday, January 6, 2009 12:11 PM PST
Coos County’s members of the Board of Commissioners are scheduled to sit down together Wednesday for their first official meeting with newcomer Bob Main.
The 9 a.m. meeting at the courthouse in Coquille is the regular weekly time the commissioners publicly discuss the county’s business. It’s a skinny agenda, but that doesn’t mean there won’t be issues to talk about, since sitting commissioners Nikki Whitty and Kevin Stufflebean announced last week the county will lay off 22 of 39 Road Department workers.
Nothing about the department appears to be on the agenda, but it would be Main’s first opportunity as commissioner to discuss the announcement with the deciders.
The board is scheduled to approve grants for the public health and sheriff’s departments, OK a financial assistance agreement between the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the sheriff’s office, among other consent items. |
