Coos Bay officers took a Las Vegas man into custody Tuesday on a Nevada warrant for charges of sexual assault to a minor.

According to a police log, officers received information about the possible location of a wanted subject. At 5:06 p.m., they arrested Richard Potter, 48, at 1663 Juniper Ave. on a Las Vegas warrant with two counts of sexual assault to a victim younger than 14.

Potter was lodged at Coos County jail, where he remained this morning on fugitive hold out of Nevada.

Wow, how hard is it to get a fax from Nevada declaring that a warrant is due for a child molester, get in a squad car, knock on the door, and collar the perp. A cub scout could do it. It wasn't exactly hard police work on part of local officers.

TO those that complain about our law enforcement
We know there are some good police/saftey officers and we all know there are some bad cops. That is everywhere, no matter where you live! Bashing them in a blog is just ridiculous. If you have a problem with an employee in any store..who do you complain to? Their Supervisor. If that fails go to HIS supervisor..
KUDOS for getting one more creep off the streets, keep up the good work ladies and gentlemen..
