The yacht Discovery, a mainstay at the Coos Bay City Docks for years, motors up the bay in August. The vessel, under new ownership, headed for Seattle. Owner Rich and Donna Reiling, of Houston, Texas, bought the vessel in January and fixed it up to run north.
A Marshfield High School graduate, U.S. Army Sgt. Bryan McNeely, finds his family split apart by immigration rules. His wife, Eva, a German citizen, is stranded in Germany with an expired visa. She is denied re-entry to the U.S. because of a 1999 marijuana conviction. While McNeely continues his Army service, their 4-year-old daughter, Yasmine, stays with grandparents in Alabama.
(Bryan and Eva McNeely have since divorced. Bryan McNeely has custody of Yasmine. His ex-wife remains in Germany.)
