Local Recap: Tigers edge Oakland

Bandon’s girls basketball team overcame a slow start to edge host Oakland 36-35 on Tuesday.
The Tigers were outscored 14-2 in the first quarter, but then held Oakland to one point in the second quarter to take the lead.
Melinda Torres had 13 points and Briana Valentine added nine for Bandon. Chelsea Spencer had 13 to lead Oakland.
The game was the only girls contest involving a South Coast team that wasn’t canceled Tuesday.
Gold Beach, Marshfield, North Bend, Powers, Pacific, Coquille and Reedsport all had contests that were not played because of the winter weather. North Bend, Powers and Reedsport also had boys games canceled.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Oakers beat Bandon
Oakland tipped visiting Bandon 55-53 on Tuesday.
Colton Baker had 16 points and scored on a rebound basket in the final minute to lead the Oakers.
Garth Gant had a game-high 22 points for Bandon and Derek Burman added 10.
Panthers top Pacific
Gold Beach had four players in double figures and topped host Pacific 73-32 on Tuesday.
Jeff Knox had a team-high 14 points, while Logan Hockema and Todd Martin had 13 each and John Werder had 12. Chris Bowman had eight points for Pacific.
