Bandon’s girls basketball team overcame a slow start to edge host Oakland 36-35 on Tuesday.

The Tigers were outscored 14-2 in the first quarter, but then held Oakland to one point in the second quarter to take the lead.

Melinda Torres had 13 points and Briana Valentine added nine for Bandon. Chelsea Spencer had 13 to lead Oakland.

The game was the only girls contest involving a South Coast team that wasn’t canceled Tuesday.

Gold Beach, Marshfield, North Bend, Powers, Pacific, Coquille and Reedsport all had contests that were not played because of the winter weather. North Bend, Powers and Reedsport also had boys games canceled.
