PORTLAND — Zach Randolph scored a season-high 38 points against his former team, leading the Los Angeles Clippers to a 120-112 double-overtime victory over the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday night.

Randolph also had 11 rebounds. Baron Davis scored 27 points for the Clippers and made a 3-pointer that sent the game into overtime.

Brandon Roy scored a career-high 38 points, but the Blazers dropped their third straight game. Rookie Greg Oden had 15 points and 15 rebounds.

After Roy’s jumper tied it at 108 in the second overtime, the Clippers made four unanswered baskets to go up 116-108 and cruise to the victory.

Randolph was drafted by the Blazers in 2001 and played six seasons in Portland. He was acquired by the Clippers in a Nov. 21 trade with New York, a deal that also brought guard Mardy Collins west.

The Clippers sent forward Tim Thomas and guard Cuttino Mobley to New York. Mobley on Thursday announced his retirement from the NBA because of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a genetic heart disease. Tests done after the trade indicated the condition had worsened.

After sending the game into overtime with his 3-pointer, Davis opened the extra period with another one. Roy’s second consecutive fadeaway jumper tied it at 106 with 15 seconds left in the first overtime, and Davis missed on a long jumper at the buzzer for a second OT.

Randolph was booed by the Rose Garden crowd when he hit a 3-pointer early in the game that put the Clippers ahead 20-17.

Celtics 94, Hornets 82

BOSTON — Paul Pierce scored 28 points and Kevin Garnett had 19 points and 10 rebounds on Friday night to lead the Boston Celtics to their 14th consecutive victory, 94-82 over the New Orleans Hornets.

The defending NBA champions took the lead with a 17-4 run early in the third quarter and never trailed again while improving to a league-best 22-2 this season.

Chris Paul had 20 points and 14 assists for the Hornets, while David West had 23 points and 14 rebounds.

After trailing by 14 points in the fourth quarter, New Orleans cut it to 89-82 before the Celtics put it away, thanks in part to an alley-oop from Ray Allen to Garnett that made it an 11-point game with 1:43 left.

Kendrick Perkins had nine points, 13 rebounds and three blocked shots, and Eddie House hit two of his three 3-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Cavaliers 88, 76ers 72

CLEVELAND — LeBron James scored 28 points and Anderson Varejao added 17 in his first start this season as Cleveland, despite missing two key components, matched a club record with its 11th straight win.

James added seven assists and seven rebounds for the Cavs, who improved to 13-0 at home and added another victory to their longest winning streak since the 1993-94 season.

Cleveland, now 19-1 since starting the season 1-2, can set a record for consecutive wins in Atlanta on Saturday.

Delonte West added 16 points and Mo Williams 14 for the Cavaliers (20-3), who didn’t get their 20th win until Jan. 15 last season and were 10-13 after 23 games.

Willie Green led the Sixers with 19 points, Andre Iguodala had 16 and Elton Brand 11 and 11 rebounds in his second game back after sitting two with a sore hamstring.

Hawks 87, Heat 73

MIAMI — Joe Johnson scored 21 points, Mike Bibby and Josh Smith each added 15, and Atlanta easily erased a terrible start to beat Miami.

Maurice Evans scored 12 points and Al Horford finished with 10 rebounds for the Hawks, who scored the final 14 points of the third quarter, blowing open the game on the way to snapping a three-game losing streak.

Dwyane Wade had 21 points and eight rebounds for Miami, which lost for the first time in five games. The Heat missed nine straight shots during one second-half lull, plus were outscored 23-4 in fast-break points and were a mere 4-for-10 from the foul line, compared with Atlanta’s 24-for-32.

Mario Chalmers scored 14 points and Daequan Cook added 13 for Miami, which finished with its second-lowest scoring total of the season.

Grizzlies 103, Bulls 96

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Rudy Gay scored 29 points and Hakim Warrick added 21, both matching their season highs, as Memphis won its third straight.

Warrick’s 12 points in the fourth quarter kept the Bulls at bay, snapping Chicago’s two-game winning streak. The win marked the first time the Grizzlies won three straight under Marc Iavaroni, in his second season as their coach.

The game featured the top two rookie scorers, O.J. Mayo of Memphis with a 20.8 average, while Chicago’s Derrick Rose was averaging 18.3. Both were kept under those numbers, as Mayo scored 14 points and Rose finished with 12 points and a season-high 11 assists.

Pistons 114, Pacers 110

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Richard Hamilton scored 28 points and Allen Iverson had 17 points and 12 assists as slumping Detroit beat Indiana.

Indiana got a career-high 42 points from Danny Granger, but still lost its fifth straight.

Rodney Stuckey added a season-high 21 points and eight assists for Detroit, which had lost four of five. Antonio McDyess had 14 points in his second game since rejoining the team.

Spurs 98, Timberwolves 86

MINNEAPOLIS — Tony Parker didn’t have another 55-point night in him, so his San Antonio relied on its defense to carry them over Minnesota.

In his first game back at Target Center since that career night on Nov. 5 that also included 10 assists, Parker managed 17 points and nine assists.

Tim Duncan had 17 points and 13 rebounds, and Manu Ginobili added 16 points for the Spurs, who have won five in a row to rebound from an 0-3 start to the season.

Al Jefferson had 29 points and 13 rebounds for the Timberwolves, who have lost eight in a row and three straight since Kevin McHale took over as coach on Monday.

Raptors 101, Nets 79

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Chris Bosh scored 18 points and Toronto capitalized on Vince Carter’s 0-for-13 night to beat New Jersey, the Raptors’ second straight win under interim coach Jay Triano.

Jason Kapono, with four 3-pointers, and Joey Graham each had 16 points. Jose Calderon scored 13 as the Raptors improved to 2-3 under Triano, who replaced Sam Mitchell on Dec. 3.

Yi Jianlian and Devin Harris led the Nets with 14 apiece, while Bobby Simmons had 12.

Suns 113, Magic 112

PHOENIX — Grant Hill made a reverse layup with 2.7 seconds left to lift the Phoenix Suns to a 113-112 victory over the Orlando Magic on Friday night.

Hedo Turkoglu had given the Magic a one-point lead 7.2 seconds earlier on a running 22-foot jump shot. Rashard Lewis had a chance to win the game, but his 3-pointer as time expired bounced off the right side of the backboard.

Jason Richardson scored 21 points in his Phoenix debut, Amare Stoudemire also scored 21 and Steve Nash had 21 points and 10 assists for the Suns, who have won six in a row against Orlando.

Dwight Howard scored 19 points in 22 minutes for Orlando before leaving with 8:36 left in the third quarter because of a sore left knee.

Rockets 119, Warriors 108

OAKLAND, Calif. — Tracy McGrady just missed a triple-double in his return to the court, Yao Ming had 19 points and 14 rebounds, and the Houston Rockets beat the Golden State Warriors 119-108 Friday night.

McGrady, who missed the last seven games with soreness in his left knee, had 24 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists as the Rockets improved to 15-8, their best record after 23 games since the 1996-97 team started 21-2. Luis Scola had 19 points and Carl Landry scored 18.

Andris Biedrins had 18 points and 12 rebounds in his ninth double-double in 10 home games for the Warriors, who had their two-game winning streak snapped. Anthony Randolph had his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. C.J. Watson added 17 points.

The Rockets took control after outscoring Golden State 20-7 during a six-minute stretch of the second quarter to take a 61-50 halftime advantage.

Anthony Morrow also scored 15 points for the Warriors (7-16), who are off to their worst start since opening 6-17 in 00-01.

Stephen Jackson missed all seven of his shots in the third quarter, finished with eight points, and did not play in the final period. Golden State fell to 0-11 when he fails to score at least 20 points.

Houston, which has a four-game winning streak over the Warriors, took a 92-75 lead into the fourth quarter.

Lakers 112, Kings 103

LOS ANGELES — Kobe Bryant scored 32 points, Pau Gasol had 18 points and 11 rebounds, and the Los Angeles Lakers avenged a loss earlier in the week with a 112-103 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night.

The Kings didn’t go quietly in the rematch, storming back from a 92-77 deficit early in the fourth quarter to close to 101-98 on Spencer Hawes’ 3-pointer with 3:02 remaining. But Derek Fisher sank a 14-footer, Bryant made a short jumper and then a driving dunk and free throw and the Lakers suddenly had stretched the lead back to 10.

John Salmons scored 26 for Sacramento, Beno Udrih had 16 and Francisco Garcia had 13. Hawes finished with 11 points.
