Runners and walkers will honor the memory of one of the South Coast’s best-known runners at Mac’s Run on Saturday, Dec. 13.
The event honors E.P. “Mac” McKean-Smith, who died in 1998 at the age of 89 after running into his mid-80s.
The races begin at 10 a.m. at Sunset Bay State Park near Charleston. The 10-kilometer course loops through both Shore Acres and Cape Arago state parks, and the 5-kilometer course includes Shore Acres. Both races are open to runners and walkers.
Registration will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. on race day at the Sunset Bay picnic area. The entry fee is $7 ($5 for students under 19). Sweatshirts may be ordered at registration.
