Nearly 300 gymnasts will be in the Bay Area this weekend for the state championships for athletes in the lower levels.
The event will be held Saturday and Sunday at the Boys & Girls Club of Southwestern Oregon.
Officials with Gymnastics Plus, the South Coast’s club, said 32 different clubs will be represented at the championships.
The event begins at 8:30 a.m. Saturday with Level 5 gymnasts in three divisions — 10 years old, 12 years old and 13-and-older.
Level 5 gymnasts in the 9- and 11-year-old age groups will march in at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, while Level 4 gymnasts in all age groups will start at 4:30 p.m.
Sunday’s opening session, which begins with the march in at 9:30 a.m., includes Level 6 gymnasts in the 12-year-old, 13-year-old and 14-and-over divisions.
The final session, for younger Level 6 gymnasts, starts at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.
Gymnastics Plus will have two gymnasts in the opening session and one in the Saturday evening session..
Eight more will compete Sunday after all of the Club’s Level 6 gymnasts performed well enough at a recent sectional competition to qualify for the state championships.
The best deal for fans who want to watch most of the competition is a weekend family pass for $25. Admission per session is $10 for adults and $3 for children 4 to 12 years old. |
