SALEM — Antwan Anderson rushed for a career-high 269 yards and three touchdowns as Wisconsin-Whitewater held on to beat Willamette 30-27 Saturday, moving one step closer to repeating as Division III champions.

The teams combined for more than 1,000 yards of offense in a second-round playoff game that was a blowout early but tightened in the fourth quarter.

Wisconsin-Whitewater (11-1) led 21-0 at halftime behind Anderson scoring runs of 1 and 3 yards.

Scott Schoettgen got hot for Willamette (11-1) in the second half. He caught scoring passes of 82 and 27 yards, and Deon Horne scored on a 1-yard run with less than four minutes left in the game to make it 30-27.

But Wisconsin-Whitewater managed to run out the clock for the win.

Schoettgen finished with seven catches for 169 yards.

The Warhawks will host Wartburg College (10-2) this week at Perkins Stadium.

Wisconsin-Whitewater is making its fourth consecutive national tournament appearance.
