let me clarify something, some of you are being racist due to the fact, that your using the term illegal MEXICAN! you could be chinese,russian,or any other nationality and be illegal. legal citizens commit crimes too. Im married to a Hispanic (the correct term) and is a law abiding, kind, legal HISPNIC MAN. He is here legally after paying many dues,and becoming legal. Coosbay does have lot of hidden racism,as it also has alot of wonderful people that are of many colors and race. This is about an unfortunte crime, not legal or illegal, Hispanic or not. To those that want to help those illegally in the country, look beyond the sorrowful looks and fright of getting deported; they *chose* the way they now live. If you really wanted to help, you'd move them get back to their home country and send them whatever they needed to live *there*....but coming over here and defending your actions by looking the other way or accepting them is a cowards way of living.

This isn't this mans first criminal act, it is at least his second, the first being illegal entry into our country. He is willing to break that law, other violations are just more on the list. If he is driving, he is driving illegally too, 3 strikes... Working without a green card, 4 strikes, without insurance for the car, 5 strikes, using someone elses social security or a fake SSN, 6 strikes...

I agree that yes there are a lot of Americans who are living below the povertly level and need to be helped which is why we have the social programs in place that we do. If those aren't working properly (and believe me I know that they don't) then those need to be fixed. Most of the hispanic individuals I know both legal and illegal are working for a living and not taking advantage of those programs. Be that as it may, the point I was trying to make is that from what I was reading most people were attributing this crime to the fact the the suspect was an illegal and that simply isn't true

But who do you think is footing the bill for their being here, for the crimes they comit, the hospital bills they never pay, the accidents they have un-insured etc. You need to dedicate yourself to helping them, go to mexico, help change them for the better, but do it THERE! And use just a smidgeon of thought as to the real cost here. Three people were stabbed by someone who should not have been here. Who'd going to pay their medical bills? A lot of you are assuming that this happened because the suspect was an "illegal". His status in this country has no bearing on whether or not he is "carving up" our citizens. Please open your eyes and look around you. It happens everyday and suprise, suprise a lot of the criminals are, get this US Citizens. Both of these kids were working trying to support their two children. He was working at a position most of our fine US Citizens would find to menial and low paying for them to take. Sometimes even in the best of relationships these things happen. No one may ever know why this happened and it is foolish for anyone to assume that they know the answer.

Not every person of Hispanic decent is in this country illegally, and if he is here illegally then I'm sure they will take care of that. Also, not every one who may live in certain areas are on welfare, not to mention that there are people out there who have children and are good and honest who actually need welfare. I know the family that this happened to and they are loving up standing people. The daughter and Filberto were trying to make a life for thier two children. This incident was bazaar and totally unforseen. As far as assistance there was none in this family. I'm so tired of the racial slures as far as incidences like this they happen every where in every nationality. He will be required to pay the price according to the severity of his crime. It is a shame I knew him as a loving father. He will recieve the same punishment as anyone who had done a crime similar to this.

I used to live in eastern Oregon, north of Pendleton. Illegals are there everywhere using fake ID's. I know, I was I-9 auditor for a large frozen food processing plant. When eastern Oregon started having lots of farm labor....hispanics, etc, the crime rate shot sky high. I see it coming here in CB/NB area also. This should never have happened.
