Former Coquille police officer Randy Ulmer, who was arrested on theft and official misconduct charges, will appear in court in December.

A story on A1 Tuesday listed an earlier date, but Coos County District Attorney Paul Frasier said the appearance wouldn’t be until Dec. 17.  He said investigators need to finish an audit of the Coquille Police Department’s evidence room before Ulmer can appear. The inventory could take a couple of weeks to complete.

Ulmer resigned Friday, Nov. 21, and was arrested Monday after the department discovered some inconsistencies in how some of the items in the evidence locker were handled.

The Coquille Police Department requested help from Oregon State Police,  Coos Bay Police Department and Bandon Police Department in the investigation.

Shame on you World Newspaper. You are allowing posts that attack people by name. I am fed up with this rediculous form of the so called news. Other reputable newspapers that allow comments to be posted require one to "sign up" with a real name and e-mail address. The way you do it is nothing more then an online National Enquirer. I am cancelling my subscription.

One thing you all seem to miss. He was a cop and being that he knew what he was doing when he did it. An old saying if the apple is rotten, there's most likly more. And on the broken neck case the Taxpapers of Coquille will pay for it in a suit.

One more Coquille cop gone. This is good news. We need to clean out the entire department.

Linda, I said he made a terrible decision, not that he made a boo boo. You and Berta obviously have your own issues with law enforcement that cloud your ability to keep this in perspective.

To the one who was to chicken to leave a name if you even knew what you were talking about with the two officers and the mans neck who was broken you would not open your mouth and shoot it of because you dont even know the facts. What would you do if your were trained in take down procedures and some one took a swing at u?

Sorry to see a Coquille police officer not using his head and being on the wrong side of the law. But I'm sure he will have time to think of is mistake and hope he learns his lesson. He has changed his life for ever. I'm Sorry for his family.

To Bertaboop - you hit it right on the nose. And if he does get time he gets to be treated special. And to Give me a break. Say that to some of the regular citizens who like you would say just made a booboo.

It's hard enough for the CPD to know that one of their own made a terrible decision, but you're all acting like he will only get time out in the corner! Are you kidding? The chief has addressed it and the wheels of justice are turning. Ulmer's career is ruined and he will face legal consequences. Let it happen and quit passing Ulmer's actions onto all members of law enforcement.

I guess the opinion that I posted last week wasn't to "The World's" liking. When it is all said and done, this cop will be like all the rest, slapped on the hand, sent to bed without dinner. Afterall, they still look after each other, even when one gets caught doing something he shouldn't.

The whole area needs help, from the top down! Coos County is a beautiful place, but you have NO pride, the town needs to be open to new ideas. The fact Coquille has a Police Chief from outside the area is a great start for Coquille. I lived in that area for years and I was so happy to leave, you have people passing judgment, in this case Ulmer, and then finding out he was a thief. That puts ALL his discrection and cases in jepordy. ALL of his cases should be reviewed by the DA, ALL! If he made this HUGE mistake, how many other mistakes did he make?
