Turkey Trot — Thursday, Nov. 27, starting at 9 a.m. at John Topits Park. This fun, Thanksgiving Day run is informal, with runners choosing their own distance. Participants are asked to bring two or more canned food items for a local food bank. For more information, call Tim and Barbara Young at 267-7960.
Mac’s Run — Saturday, Dec. 13, starting at 10 a.m. at Sunset Bay State Park, west of Charleston. Events include a 10-kilometer run and a 5-kilometer run/walk. Both races go through Shore Acres and the longer run loops through Cape Arago State Park. The entry fee is $28 with a quarter-zippered sweatshirt and $5 without for runners who pre-register by Nov. 28. For people who register after Nov. 28, the fee increases to $32 with a sweatshirt, which includes mailing costs. Unique medals will be presented to all finishers.
