Ore. board suspends nurse aide's license

Friday, November 28, 2008 |
MEDFORD (AP) — State officials say the license of a certified nursing assistant was suspended after she failed to respond to an investigation into whether she had improperly accepted $100,000 from a client who suffers from dementia.
Spokeswoman Barbara Holtry of the state Board of Nursing says Liberty Sayo Garachico didn’t respond to two letters asking her to contact the board about allegations she accompanied a client to a bank a year ago, opened an account and deposited the money.
Medford police say they’ve sent their investigative findings to the district attorney.
Certified nursing assistants provide care such as bathing, brushing teeth and toileting. In-home care providers also may do errands.
