Thanks for votes, good opponent

Thursday, November 27, 2008 |
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for retaining me as your state representative.
As I go into my fifth term as your representative, I will work hard for you in Salem and finish many of the things I have started, such as salmon restoration, which must include better use of our hatcheries, hatch boxes and involve South Coast citizens in these decisions. Hopefully these will help in restoring our commercial fishery and enhance our recreational fisheries.
Marine Reserves on the Oregon Coast must have community input and should not have any negative economic impact. I will work to make sure all our veterans receive the services and benefits they earned and deserve. I will continue to work with the Department of Human Services to ensure that children are better served. There will be many challenging issues next legislative session.
We face one of the largest deficits in the Oregon budget that we have seen in many years. I will work to make sure that we continue to fund the necessary services without creating a larger deficit.
Again, I would like to thank all who voted for me and especially those who worked so hard on our campaign. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Goche for a formidable campaign that helped to highlight the problems of the district. I will continue to work in a bipartisan way to find solutions to rural Oregon’s problems.
