Yakima jail escapee caught in Spokane

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Authorities who thought Eddie Ray Hall of Spokane was headed toward home after he escaped from jail in Yakima were correct.
The Spokane County sheriff’s office says Hall was arrested Tuesday evening in a vehicle at a Spokane-area convenience store.
Law enforcement officers had been looking for the 44-year-old Hall since he escaped from a Yakima County corrections center a week ago. He was working as a commissary trustee when he made a break for an exterior fence, scaled it and ran off.
Sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Dave Reagan says Hall could be considered one of Spokane County’s top 10 criminals, given his 25-year criminal history that includes convictions for drug and property crimes.
