South Coast Hospice and Palliative Care Services hosted a Texas Hold’em and Casino night fundraiser in September at the Autumn House restaurant’s Sawmill Event Center.  About people 200 attended and raised $8,000 for hospice, a press release said.

Businesses also donated food and other items. Those included the Coach House restaurant in Eastside, La Costa Mexican Restaurant in North Bend, Tai’s Dynasty in North Bend and Brickstones at the Red Lion in Coos Bay. Other major sponsors were Honda World, Sears and KDCQ Radio.

The tournament brought in players from around the state. Volunteer Coordinator for the event was Carol Denbow. Other volunteers included Craig Denbow, Lois and Bill Harvey and Carla Mobley. Tina Smith and the South Coast Hospice took care of the monetary side of things, while Carol Gardner and Pam Dennis handled balloon sales.
