Thanksgiving disaster contest
Thursday, November 20, 2008 10:49 AM PST

Remember that Thanksgiving when the smoke alarm went off in the kitchen just as the doorbell rang, signaling the arrival of your in-laws for the first time?

How about the time you tried to make fresh pumpkin pie to top off the perfect holiday meal? Oops, you forgot to strain the pumpkin through a cheesecloth before putting it in the pie shell and ended up with a nice pumpkin-flavored soup.

Or, maybe it was the time you turned your back on your 3-year-old nephew. He toddled his way into the kitchen to see what everyone was doing and the stuffing “fell” off the counter and made a nice holiday surprise for your puppy?

Sound familiar?

Not even close to your worst Thanksgiving disaster?

Now’s your chance.

Tell us your story.

The overall winner will receive a $200 gift card to Fred Meyer, and the winning letter will be featured in The World on Thanksgiving Day.
