Accident injures teenagers

A 17-year-old boy and young girl were injured in a rollover accident on Libby Lane near Coos Bay on Friday.
At about 12:26 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a rollover crash near the Clover Drive intersection.
A Coos County sheriff’s deputy and Oregon State Trooper went to the scene and found an unidentified teenage boy, who was the driver, with injuries to his left arm and a girl with injuries to her back standing near an 1995 Isuzu Trooper, which blocked the westbound lane of travel.
An investigation revealed that the Isuzu was eastbound on Libby when it crested the hill near milepost 4 and fishtailed out of control, a press release said. The boy, who was the driver, attempted to get the vehicle to recover but was unable to do so.
Neither wore seatbelts. The girl was taken to Bay Area Hospital. Police cited the driver for careless driving.
