Tuesday, November 18, 2008 3:39 PM PST

Emergency responders took a Coos Bay woman to the hospital Monday after she was hit by a vehicle in Eastside.

According to a Coos Bay police press release, at about 11:10 a.m., officers responded to a report of an accident involving a pedestrian and a 1987 Dodge pickup in the 800 block of D Street. The pedestrian, Maryann McKay, 44, was treated by paramedics, then taken to Bay Area Hospital with undisclosed injuries for follow-up treatment.  A hospital spokeswoman said she was treated and released.

The driver, Michael Weiss, 61, of Coos Bay, was cited on a charge of driving while suspended. His pickup was towed from the scene and impounded.

It’s the second accident in which a car has struck an area resident in a week.

A 2006 Buick SUV struck 38-year-old Theresa Colvin on Saturday night as she wandered onto Woodland Drive in Coos Bay to retrieve her dog. Colvin remains at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland with a head injury. She was in critical condition Monday, according to a hospital official.
