Siuslaw’s Jacob Mitchell and North Bend’s Trae Collins took top individual honors for the Far West League in football.
Mitchell, Siuslaw’s senior quarterback, was the league’s offensive player of the year. Collins, a leader on North Bend’s line, was named the player of the year on defense.
North Bend and Douglas, the league’s co-champions, were well-represented on the all-league first team.
Collins was a first-team pick on both the offensive and defensive lines, as was fellow senior Justin Tobey. Jake Lucero was a first-team selection at linebacker and running back.
Other North Bend players on the first team were center Kyle Rose, tight end Bryce Weidman and defensive backs Dalton Iveans and Skyler Walton.
Douglas linemen Darrell Watson and Kyle Meals and running back Sky Woods were chosen for the first-team offense, while Woods also was picked at defensive back. Other Trojans on the first-team defense were lineman Tim Bellando and linebackers Mike Ruppert and Jacob Neilsen. The Trojans also had both the first-team specialists — punter Tim Urista and punter Bryson Norton.
Siuslaw players joining Mitchell on the first team were receivers Joe Swesey and Joe Thompson on offense and Mike Swoboda at defensive back.
North Bend’s Rick Taylor and Joe Polamalu of Douglas were co-coaches of the year.
