Siuslaw’s season came to an end when Marist rolled to a 21-0 lead and never looked back in a 55-7 victory.
Marist quarterback Tevin Cheever passed for three touchdowns and ran for another. Gianni Carter had one score on a reception and another on an interception and Jeff Bedbury had two touchdown catches.
The Vikings, who finished third in the Far West League, got their only touchdown on a short run by Sonny Tapua in the second quarter.
The loss ended a great career for Siuslaw senior quarterback Jacob Mitchell, the Far West League’s offensive player of the year.
Mitchell led the Vikings to the state title as a sophomore and the state quarterfinals last year.
Marist advances to face the winner of today’s game between Banks and Baker.
Siuslaw joined Douglas on the sidelines, with the Far West League co-champion Trojans losing 32-13 at Capital Conference champion Estacada on Friday.
Estacada will face NorthValley in the quarterfinals after the Knights beat Newport 21-14 on Friday. |
