Grants awarded to nonprofit organizations

Meyer Memorial Trust has awarded more than $8.6 million in grants and program-related investments to nonprofit organizations. More than $104,000 will come to South Coast organizations.
* Star of Hope Activity Center: $65,000 for the Coos Bay facility will fund a development program for this organization that provides services for adults with developmental disabilities.
* Curry County: $17,800 for fundraising training for board and staff of the Commission on Children and Families and affiliated local nonprofits.
* Sunset Garden Club of Port Orford: $3,070 for club help residents learn how to grow, prepare, market or purchase high quality organic produce.
* Dora Public Library: $18,400 to complete the expansion of the community’s library.
Awards were intended to address a variety of community needs, including social welfare, health, education, arts and culture, conservation and environment and public affairs.
The recent grants bring the total awarded since Meyer Memorial Trust began operating in 1982 to more than $475 million.
