Coquille woman dies in shooting

Coquille police are investigating a shooting that left a 45-year-old woman dead Monday.
Police found Patricia Shaw suffering from gun shot wounds in a residence at 740 N. Folsom St. shortly after 9:30 p.m. Monday. Emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene, said police Chief Mark Dannels.
The Coos Bay Police Department dispatches calls for Coquille. There was no record of any reports of the shooting on that day’s public police log. A dispatcher referred calls to Coquille Police.
Dannels said his department, along with the Coos County Major Crimes Team, Oregon State Crime Lab and Coos County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the shooting. They have not determined what happened.
“We are talking with some more people before we come to any conclusions,” he said. “We are interviewing some leads and hopefully, by the end of the day, will have some more information.”
Shaw moved to the area from Texas around July, Dannels said. He said his understanding is that Shaw was visiting a friend at the residence where she was found.
