Coquille volleyball team honored for academics

Coquille’s volleyball team ranked second in Class 3A in the Dairy Farmers of Oregon’s Academic All-State Program.
The Red Devils had a team grade-point average of 3.71, which ranked only behind the 3.75 of Santiam Christian.
Two other South Coast teams were in the top 10 for Class 3A volleyball — Bandon tied for sixth at 3.61 and Gold Beach tied for ninth at 3.47.
Four other South Coast teams placed in the top 10 for their sports.
North Bend’s boys cross country team was ranked fourth in Class 4A with a 3.73 team GPA.
The Bandon boys cross country team tied for seventh in Class 3A-2A-1A with a 3.61, while the girls were eighth at 3.62.
Brookings-Harbor was tied for seventh in boys soccer at 3.36.
A number of other teams had GPAs over 3.0, as listed by the Oregon School Activities Association, which administers the academic all-state program. Those teams include (listed by school):
