Marshfield and North Bend enter the football playoffs this week after having byes last week.

The Pirates are on the road in Portland against Jefferson, while North Bend hosts another Portland-area school, La Salle, Friday night.

Also on Friday, Siuslaw meets Marist in a game to be played at Willamette High School in Eugene.

Gold Beach is back in Coos Bay at Pete Susick Stadium for a Class 3A quarterfinal matchup against Umatilla on Saturday.

General admission for all games this week is $6 for adults and $4 for students.

North Bend is offering season ticket holders a chance to reserve their regular seats for $8, though fans must reserve the seats by 4 p.m. Wednesday, by stopping by the athletic department or calling 751-7160. After that time, they will go on sale to the general public.

Marshfield will be playing a rare game on a natural grass field. The only other time the Pirates have played on grass this season was when they met Marist back in early September.

Jefferson High School is located in the northern part of Portland, five blocks east of Interstate-5 on North Killingsworth Avenue.

There are no covered stands at the high school field.

Because the Pirates will leave early Friday for Portland, Marshfield’s Quarterback Club will move its regular meeting up a day. The club will meet Thursday morning at 6:30 a.m. at the Coney Station in Coos Bay.

Marshfield coach Kent Wigle will be the guest speaker, discussing the Pirates and what they expect to see from the Democrats. The meeting is open to the general public.

Gold Beach and Umatilla meet in the Class 3A quarterfinals after both had blowout wins in the first round. The game at Pete Susick Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m.

Siuslaw won its first-round game over Henley to advance to Friday’s matchup with Marist, the champion of the Sky-Em League. The two were regular foes for four years when the Vikings were in the Sky-Em League for the seasons from 2002-2005.

Like Siuslaw, La Salle won a first-round game against Philomath in a double-overtime thriller Friday night. North Bend had a bye coming by virtue of its Far West League title.

A complete list of Friday’s playoff matchups can be found in the Scoreboard section on Page B2.
