The Bay Area Concert Band, led by conductor Mark Allen, includes community members, Southwestern Oregon Community College students and referred high school students. The band meets from 7:30 to 9 p.m. every Thursday in the Sunset School band room, and is seeking instrumentalists who play the French horn, bassoon, tenor saxophone, flute oboe and percussion. Membership is based on an audition.

Concert dates for the band will be Dec. 4, Mar. 19, 2009, and May 14, 2009. The concerts will begin at 7:30 p.m., and will be held at the North Bend Presbyterian Church. The events are free of charge, but the band accepts donations toward music scholarships for SOCC students. The band will also be performing at Shore Acres on Dec. 18.
