Family ancestry is topic at seminar

Friday, November 07, 2008 |
You need not be an expert on researching family ancestry to attend a special seminar Saturday at the Family History Center in North Bend.
The seminar with the theme “Treasure Chest of Family Gems,” will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the center, 3355 Virginia Ave.
Lectures will be geared toward beginners, intermediate and experienced researchers. The lecturers are experienced researchers who come from Florence, Coos Bay, North Bend, Brookings and Cottage Grove.
Keynote speaker Jennifer Shank will talk about the indexing program for millions of records, which will soon be available free of charge on the Internet, a press release said.
Each participant will have a choice of four lectures, and a lunch will be served at 12:20 p.m. There is no cost for the seminar, but donations to cover the lunch and handouts are appreciated.
For more information, including specific lecture times, call 756-3575, or e-mail
