Marshfield and North Bend both have byes in the first round of the playoffs. Marshfield visits Jefferson in the second round next Friday, while North Bend plays the winner of a first-round game between Philomath and La Salle in a game that likely also will be played next Friday.
Marshfield has been Gold Beach’s home away from home in recent years, as the Panthers have sought the best possible playing conditions when the rainy season has started. Gold Beach coach Kevin Swift multiple times has said his team works too hard to risk losing a game because of poor field conditions.
Gold Beach has played at least one playoff game at Marshfield three of the past four seasons, and run up a 4-0 playoff record at Pete Susick Stadium.

Two years ago, Gold Beach topped Jefferson and then Dayton at Marshfield on the way to the semifinals.
In 2004, Marshfield was the site of Gold Beach’s semifinal win over Bandon, which put the Panthers in the championship game.
Saturday’s game is set for a 1 p.m. kickoff.
That’s the same time Myrtle Point is set to start against Grant Union at John Day.
Bandon and Regis meet on the Rams’ home field in Stayton, east of Salem, in a game that starts at 3 p.m.
Siuslaw is playing at home for the sixth straight year and has won all five of its home playoff games since moving into its current stadium. The winner of Friday’s game travels to Capital Conference champion Estacada in the second round.
Admission for all first-round games is $6 for adults and $4 for students.
