Ambulance crews took a Coos Bay man to the hospital Friday following a single-vehicle accident on Blue Ridge Road.

According to an Oregon State Police press release, at about 10:19 p.m., a 1995 Chevrolet pickup was northbound on Blue Ridge Road near Stock Slough Lane when it left the roadway and overturned.

The driver, Kyle Wechter, 18, suffered head injuries. Emergency personnel took him to Bay Area Hospital, then flew him to Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland. According to a hospital spokeswoman, Wechter was treated and released.

A 15-year-old female passenger was not injured in the crash, police said.
